Battery & Connection Troubleshooting
The most common issues with parental control applications are caused by aggressive Operating System battery optimization. When Android or iOS "optimizes" battery life, it may kill Fami Hero's background monitoring process, resulting in lost location tracking and outdated screen limits.
This guide helps you configure major phone brands to keep Fami Hero running reliably in the background, and how to recover revoked permissions.
π± 1. Prevent Background Process Kills (Brand Specific)β
Many phone manufacturers implement custom battery saving software. Follow these instructions to exempt Fami Hero Kids from background restriction:
β‘ Xiaomi (MIUI & HyperOS)β
Xiaomi phones require two critical adjustments to keep background tracking active:
- Autostart Permission:
- Open phone Settings -> Apps -> Permissions -> Autostart.
- Locate Fami Hero Kids and toggle the switch to On.
- Battery Saver Exemption:
- Open phone Settings -> Battery (or Battery & Performance).
- Tap App Battery Saver.
- Locate Fami Hero Kids in the list and select No Restrictions (instead of "Battery Saver (Recommended)").

β‘ Samsung (One UI)β
Samsung's system automatically sleeps unused apps. You must add Fami Hero to the background exemption registry:
- Open phone Settings -> Battery and Device Care -> Battery.
- Tap Background Usage Limits.
- Toggle Put unused apps to sleep to Off, or expand Never sleeping apps.
- Tap the
+icon, select Fami Hero Kids, and tap Add.

β‘ Oppo / Realme / Vivoβ
- Open phone Settings -> App Management -> select Fami Hero Kids.
- Tap Power Saver or Battery.
- Enable Allow Background Activity (or toggle Run in Background to On).
π‘οΈ 2. Recovering Revoked Permissionsβ
If a child accesses system settings and manually turns off a permission (like Accessibility or Usage Access), Fami Hero will immediately flag this inside the Parent App.
How to Restore Active Monitoring:β
- Tap the permission-revoked notification inside the Parent App to see which permission is offline.
- Grab the child's physical device and launch Fami Hero Kids.
- The app will detect the missing permission and automatically present the Permissions Setup Checklist screen.
- Tap Enable next to the flagged item. Fami Hero will open the exact system settings page.
- Restore the permission and return to the app. Once all permissions show green checkmarks, the app resumes normal operation.
π 3. Handling Offline Connection Dropsβ
If the child's device status displays Offline for an extended period:
- Step 1: Verify Internet Connection: Ensure the child's device is connected to a working cellular data network or Wi-Fi. Fami Hero cannot sync screen time rules or report locations without active network access.
- Step 2: Reopen the App: If the operating system closed Fami Hero due to battery optimizations, opening the Fami Hero Kids app once will automatically restart all monitoring processes.
- Step 3: Toggle Airplane Mode: On the child's device, turn Airplane Mode on for 5 seconds, then turn it off to re-establish a fresh cellular network sync.
