Content Monitoring & Sensitive Keywords
Fami Hero features an intelligent background content monitoring system that scans for sensitive words and inappropriate language on your child's device. This proactive tool helps protect children from cyberbullying, self-harm discussions, hate speech, and exposure to adult themes. This guide explains how to set up content categories, manage custom keyword lists, and review flagged history logs.
🛡️ Smart Content Monitoring Configuration
Parents can manage content safety rules from the Content Monitoring settings in the Parent App.
1. The Smart Monitoring Switch (Master Toggle)
- The Smart Monitoring master switch controls the background scanning engine on the child's device.
- When active (indicated by a green
"Protecting"status), Fami Hero monitors text interactions in real time. If disabled, background detection is completely paused.
2. Built-in Content Categories
Fami Hero has pre-configured dictionaries for common safety concerns:
- Categories: Toggle protection for categories like Hate Speech, Self Harm, Adult Content, Cyberbullying, and Violence.
- Dictionary Lookup: Tap any category in the settings list to trigger a dictionary lookup. A bottom sheet will open to show the complete list of default keywords scanned by that specific category filter.

📝 Custom Sensitive Keywords
In addition to built-in categories, parents can define custom words or phrases tailored to their household rules or local slang.
1. Adding a Custom Keyword
- Tap the Add (+) button next to the Custom Words section header.
- Enter a specific word or phrase in the dialog and tap Add.
- Fami Hero will immediately include this keyword in the active real-time scanning database on the child's device.
2. Removing a Custom Keyword
- View your customized list under the Custom Words section.
- Tap the Delete (Trash) icon next to any word to permanently remove it from the active database.
🗃️ Detected Content History Logs
When Fami Hero detects a matched keyword on the child's device, it captures the text context, logs the event, and pushes an alert feed to the Parent App.

Inside the History Feed:
- App Context & Source: Fami Hero identifies where the word was encountered. If the app is installed in the device inventory, it displays the app's official icon (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Chrome). If no app is identified, a red Warning icon is shown.
- Alert Details:
- Title: Explains what category or custom filter was triggered (e.g., "Alert: Potential self_harm content detected in app").
- Text Context (Body): Displays the surrounding text or message body where the sensitive term was flagged (e.g., "123456: matched "help" in Chrome"), giving parents full context of the interaction.
- Timestamp: The localized date and time when the violation occurred.
- Detection Source Badge:
- In-App (Indigo badge): Text typed or displayed directly inside an active foreground application.
- Notification (Pink badge): Sensitive content arrived via incoming system notifications from messaging or social apps.
[!TIP] Active Protection: To ensure continuous scanning, Fami Hero uses a persistent background service. Parents can review the background optimization guidelines inside the app settings panel to prevent the operating system from suspending these safety tasks.
