Installation & Device Pairing

Setting up Fami Hero is a quick, structured process. This guide covers how to install the apps on both the Parent and Child devices, link them using a secure 6-digit pairing code, and verify that the connection is active.

📋 Onboarding Flow Overview

Linking devices requires physical access to both the Parent's phone and the Child's device. The entire process takes approximately 5 minutes.

🛠️ Step 1: Install the Apps

For the Parent (Supervisor)

1. Open the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Search for Fami Hero.
3. Download and install the app.
4. Launch the app and sign in, or tap Get Started to register a new account.

For the Child (Supervised Device)

1. Open Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) on your child's device.
2. Search for Fami Hero Kids (Child App).
3. Download and install the app.
4. Launch the app. You will see a prompt to enter a pairing code.

🔗 Step 2: Generate Pairing Code (Parent Phone)

1. Launch the Fami Hero Parent App and sign in.
2. Navigate to the Dashboard or Menu tab.
3. Tap the Add Child Device button.
4. Fill in your child's basic profile details (Name, Birth Year, Avatar).
5. Tap Generate Pairing Code.
6. The app will display a unique 6-digit code (e.g., 483-910).

[!NOTE] Pairing codes are extremely secure and expire automatically after 5 minutes. If the timer runs out, tap Regenerate Code on the parent app.

📲 Step 3: Enter the Pairing Code (Child Device)

1. Bring the child device containing the freshly opened Fami Hero Kids app.
2. Tap Pair with Parent.
3. Carefully enter the 6-digit code displayed on the parent's device.
4. Tap Confirm Connection.
5. Wait for the loading animation to complete.

✅ Step 4: Verification

Once pairing is successfully completed, you must check that both devices show an active connection.

Parent Device Verification:

1. Tap the Dashboard tab.
2. You should see your child's newly created avatar and profile name.
3. The device status badge will display Connected or Online.

Child Device Verification:

1. The Fami Hero Kids app will automatically transition from the "Pairing" screen to the Required Permissions Checklist screen.

👥 5. Managing Multiple Devices & Child Profiles

Fami Hero supports managing multiple child profiles and devices from a single Parent App.

Device Management:

You can view, pair, and manage all connected child devices directly from the Menu:

1. Tap the Menu tab in the Parent App.
2. Tap Device management.
3. Here you will see a list of all child profiles (e.g., FamiChild, Iso) along with their pairing status (e.g., Not Paired or active status).
4. To add another child device, tap the prominent blue + Add new device button at the bottom and follow the standard pairing code generation process.

Multi-child Profile Switching:

Once multiple profiles are configured:

1. Tap the Dashboard or Screen time tab.
2. Look at the top bar for the current child's profile name.
3. Tap the dropdown arrow next to the child's name to instantly switch between different child profiles. All rules, limits, and location histories will update to the selected child profile instantly.
